At COP23, the COP President will report on the layout of the SDF building on the discussions during the consultations. The APA elected its co-chairs, Sarah Baashan (Saudi Arabia, non-Annex 1) and Jo Tyndall (New Zealand, Annex 1) at its first meeting in May 2016. As the mandate ended at this meeting, it was decided that they had been re-elected in order to continue to play the role of co-chairs until the end of COP24 in 2018, in order to ensure continuity of work. Japan has organized a large number of related events and has proactivated its contribution to climate change. The official event of the Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation, which will be set up at Japan`s COP23 (NIES), the Government of the Netherlands and UNEP. The next ABS meeting will be held from 6 to 17 November in Bonn, Germany, in conjunction with COP23 (Chair: Fiji). Issues related to LULUCF, agriculture, periodic review, national communications, biennial reports/update reports, national adjustment plans, response measures, capacity building and the Secretariat`s budget for the biennium 2018-2019 were also discussed. Draft decisions of the COP have been prepared on certain agenda items. Informal consultations were convened on each agenda item, including reduction, adaptation, transparency framework, overall stocktaking, facilitation of implementation and invitation to comply, as well as the Adjustment Fund.
The parties discussed the basic headings and sub-headings/contours/elements of the MAG, as well as the main issues to be addressed in transmitting the technical discussion. Japan submitted to the assessment by explaining and answering questions such as progress towards its 2020 target, the status of implementation of policies and measures, and the Joint Credit Facility (JCM). . . .
