On Monday evening, Halifax Water and the local Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 227 agreed on an interim agreement. Carl Yates, Managing Director of Halifax Water, said: “This interim agreement is great news for our valued customers and employees. CUPE Local 227 members and the distribution company are now better able to plan for the future. Details of the agreement will not be published until both sides have ratified the agreement. The agreement has yet to be ratified by CUPE Local 227 members and approved by the Halifax Water Board. Martin Austin, President of CUPE 227, said: “I want to thank our negotiating team and union representatives for their commitment and hard work. I would also like to thank our membership for its support throughout this process. ยป
